In 2004, Bedingfield released her first solo album, Unwritten, which enjoyed international success, selling over 2.5 million copies worldwide. In 2007, Bedingfield received a Grammy Award nomination for "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance" for the album, and in April of that same year, Bedingfield released her second solo album, N.B. She is the first woman from the UK to have a number one song on the Pop 100.
In addition to her musical projects, Bedingfield has promoted humanitarian causes throughout the world, and is noted for her work with children in the "Stop the Traffik" campaign and her mother's charity, Global Angels. In November 2006, she visited India for three weeks in support of the charity, where she spent time at an orphanage in Calcutta as well as a refugee camp for former child prostitutes in Mumbai to learn more about the situation and the conditions in these areas.She continues to support publicity of these issues through Stop the Traffik, Global Angels and the (RED) Campaign.
