about the film
cold war kids
When they began practicing in an apartment above the Mulberry Street Restaurant in Fullerton, CA, band members Nathan Willett, Jonnie Russell, Matt Maust, and Matt Aviero could not have known their “clanging on heat pipes and thumping on plywood walls” would become the blues-inflected, soul-inspired indie rock band, Cold War Kids. Established in 2004, Cold War Kids released a string of EP’s including Mulberry Street EP (2005), With Our Wallets Full (2006), and Up in Rags (2006) before releasing its first LP entitled Robbers and Cowards (2006).

From the beginning, Cold War Kids has tapped into a unique style of music stemming from such influences as Jeff Buckley, Bob Dylan, and Velvet Underground. Lead vocalist, Nathan Willett is a storyteller, captivating his audience in the lives of his characters. Fusing his lyrics with their genre-bending indie rock, Cold War Kids has cultivated their own sound. Cold War Kids toured with the White Stripes in 2007, and shared a stage summer 2008 with Beck, Radiohead and other top bands at the Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco.
