British actress Julia Ormond attended Webber-Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London, graduating in 1988. Her career began on-stage, acting in such plays as “Wuthering Heights,” “The Crucible,” and winning the London Drama Critics’ Award for Best Newcomer in Christopher Hampton's "Faith, Hope and Charity." She moved to film when she caught Hollywood’s eye by her performance in Legends of the Fall. Starring in Sydney Pollack’s Sabrina only furthered her international acclaim as an actress.

Ormond has also established herself as an activist, specifically on the issue of human trafficking. In 2005 she was appointed the United Nations Goodwill Ambassador against Trafficking and Slavery, and has since visited Ghana, Cambodia, Thailand and India. In June 2006 she gave Congressional testimony on trafficking and slavery before the House Sub Committee on Human Rights.. She travels the world raising awareness of human trafficking and promoting efforts to fight against it . Ormond is the founder and president of the ASSET (Alliance to Stop Slavery and End Trafficking) Campaign which works with numerous NGOs, governmental agencies, corporations and others “to create the systemic change needed to eradicate slavery at source.”
